Last week, Brennemann’s 3rd graders experienced something truly special: a live visit from The Blues Parade! What started as a typical music class turned into an unforgettable journey through blues history, rhythm, and storytelling—complete with live performances by incredibly talented musicians.
Led by Brennemann neighbor and Blues Parade member Terry Abrahamson, the presentation brought music to life in a powerful and accessible way. The room filled with clapping, foot-stomping, and wide-eyed curiosity as students learned how the blues came to be.
More than just a concert, The Blues Parade is about honoring culture, encouraging creativity, and uplifting kids’ voices through music. Two key themes of the day—community and respect—resonated deeply with both students and staff. Through stories, song, and shared experience, students saw firsthand how music can bridge generations and backgrounds, creating a stronger, more compassionate school community.
We’re so grateful to The Blues Parade for sharing their energy and artistry with our students—and to Terry Abrahamson for helping make it happen.
