In June 2024, Friends of Brennemann kicked off a campaign to raise funds for a complete remodel of the teachers’ lounge at Brennemann Elementary School in Uptown, Chicago. With the help of a GoFundMe campaign and an early boost from CBS Chicago’s morning news feature, our fundraising efforts took off.
A year and a half later, we’re proud to share that the transformation is complete — and the lounge is truly unrecognizable from its former self. CBS Chicago recently returned to Brennemann to see the finished space and speak with Assistant Principal Daniel Postlethwait, who played a key role in making this renovation a reality along with the Friends of Brennemann team and incredible partners such as MDT Architects and Leasing and Management Inc. Watch the video below to see the incredible results.
The lounge may be finished, but our work continues. Friends of Brennemann is now focused on supporting Beyond the Classroom — programs that enrich students’ lives through after-school activities, field trips, and in-school cultural experiences. These opportunities have faced major funding cuts in recent years, and we’re working hard to bridge the gap. With your continued support, we can keep these vital experiences alive for every Brennemann student.
